InterContinental Budapest announces the arrival of the new General Manager Claus Geisselmann who takes over from Mathieu van Alphen who was transferred to InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya. Claus Geisselmann joins InterContinental Budapest from the InterContinental Berchtesgaden Resort, where he held a position of the General Manager from February 2009 until 2012.

Wizz Air To Fly From Budapest To Tel Aviv, Kiev

From December, low cost airline Wizz Air will fly to Tel Aviv and Kiev three times a week, having received permission for the flights for an unspecified period from the authorities. The new routes expect to have 2 million passengers annually, CEO József Váradi said on Monday. Further rights for flights to Moscow and Istanbul are expected within two months, he added.

New flights will be launched at Budapest Airport during the winter schedule period, whilst some airlines are increasing the frequency of their existing flights already during the fall. The summer travel season is still under way at Budapest Airport, but the airlines and the airport operator are already looking ahead to the fall/winter schedule.

Debrecen Airport has announced the launch of regular flights from Debrecen to Moscow from August. Tatarstan Airlines will fly every two weeks from Moscow's Domodedovo Airport to Debrecen. The planes will be Boeing 737-400s, capable of carrying 150 passengers.

Passers-by are taking photos and looking perplexedly at the cordon fenced Soviet monument in Kalvin Square, opposite the glass palace building. The statue is ugly, too close for comfort to Corvin köz and, as passers-by told the [origo] reporter, one Soviet monument in the city is enough!
