Culture Funds In Hungary To Rise By 17 Billion Forints Next Year

The amount of state funding for culture will rise by 17 billion forints (EUR 57m) next year, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated in Hódmezővásárhely, on Sunday. Culture has received more attention and more money in the past years, in spite of the economic crisis, he said at the opening of an annual exhibition of handicrafts in the city.

József Vágó (45) CEO of SÓLYOM Hungarian Airways Ltd. was born in Budapest, Hungary. He started his aviation career in 1987 at the Russian Military Aviation Academy as a trainee fighter pilot. Hungary's annual festival of chocolate and sweets will be held for at Millenáris in Buda, this year it's all focused on dark chocolate. Switzerland is the guest country at this the 3rd such sweet event, and will exhibit world famous Swiss chocolates, plus several sweets manufactures from Switzerland will introduce themselves and aim to entertain visitors with lectures and product demos.

Ivan Fischer, Music Director of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Konzerthaus Berlin, was awarded with an Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music. The Honorary Membership is limited to 300 persons; Mendelssohn, Liszt, Stravinsky and Casals are amongst those who received this honour.
