This is not the first time the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company have been featured at the Spring Festival, or have performed with a symphonic orchestra. Following their cooperation with the Hungarian National Philharmonic for a production of The Wooden Prince, with choreography by Tamás Juronics, the company now appear with the Pannon Philharmonic.

The first marathon at the Palace of Arts in 2008 showcased the works of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The series of 11 concerts on a single day covered a cross-section of the great master's ouevre and exceeded all expectations with its unique theme and atmosphere. In the years that followed, the organisers put together marathon programmes of the work of Dvořák, Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart and Bartók.

Despite her young age, Moscow-born Alexandra Soumm is one of the most renowned and sought-after soloists today. She won the in-house competition of the Vienna Conservatory in 2002, before going on to win the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in Lucerne in 2004. At her Budapest debut, she will play one of the most popular works in the violin concerto repertoire.
