Output of Hungary’s construction sector rose by an annual 35.4% in May, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. KSH noted that the jump came from a low base. Output of the building segment was up by 27.2% during the period while output of the civil engineering segment soared 46.4%.

Think-tank Kopint-Tárki has lowered its projection for annual average inflation this year to 2.3% from 2.7% forecast in April. Its expectation for economic growth this year was unchanged at 3.7%, but next year growth is forecast at 3.5% as opposed to the April projection of 3.2%.

There were a record number of European Union infringement proceedings against Hungary in 2016, reports Index.hu. According to the EU’s 2016 report, there are 57 ongoing infringement cases against Hungary, a five-year record for the country.
