The percentage of young Hungarians who said they are well-informed on financial matters is 23% among urban youth, 28% among young employees and 12% among students, according to K&H’s first-quarter survey covering people aged between 19 and 29 years.

The number of HIV infections has been steadily growing in Hungary in the past decade and every fifth school-age child has tried drugs, the Central Statistical Office said in the survey Magyarország 2015. Efforts to raise AIDS awareness in Hungary are wanting and there are hardly any prevention or screening programmes that could improve the chances of early diagnoses and successful treatment.

Two-thirds of Hungary’s homeless people reside in the countryside and their conditions are continuously deteriorating, the head of the Shelter Foundation said citing a recent survey carried out among Hungary’s rough sleepers. Péter Győri said that out of the 10,206 homeless people the foundation surveyed in February, 3,968 lived in Budapest and 6,238 in the countryside.

Spending on travel with recreation vouchers would fall by more than half if the vouchers are replaced with cash, a survey by room booking service Szallas.hu shows. Just 17% of respondents said they would spend the full equivalent in cash of the recreation vouchers they get at present.

Given the choice, 80% of foreign-owned companies would reinvest in Hungary based on the current situation, up from 71% in 2015, an annual survey of 227 companies carried out by the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK) showed, state-owned news agency MTI reported.
Retailers Play Down Sunday Shopping Change

Large food retail chains responded coolly to the news that the law on restricting shopping on Sundays is to be repealed. Spar said it will do its best to establish conditions for Sunday reopening. Only those units will be opened where consumer demand justifies it, the company said, most likely in city centres and tourist areas.
