A smog alert has been withdrawn in Budapest since the concentration of airborne particles has now fallen to the desired level, mainly thanks to favourable weather conditions, the mayor’s office said on Tuesday.

The communications director for the Budapest mayor’s office said that the measure was triggered by two consecutive readings indicating that the concentration of dust particles had exceeded “warning level”.

Police in north-eastern Hungary have uncovered a stash of weapons that also included telescopic sights, silencers and ammunition. Police in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County said in a statement on Friday that the cache was seized form a house in the village of Magy, near Nyíregyháza.

The organisers of the movement expressed their anger in an invitation to the demonstration on Facebook over what they see as the government “totally nationalising schools and destroying education”.
