By Treehugger Dan: I wish I could recommend some great pizza in Budapest, but I have yet to encounter one. Il Treno used to have a good garlicy sauce on theirs, as did Via Luna, but it has been many years since I have been to either of these restaurants. In early December I was lucky enough to be invited along by my friends at Taste Hungary for a day of wine tasting in Eger. If you are like me, your first taste of Hungarian wine was a mass-produced Bikavér – which you picked off the supermarket shelf for the novelty of the name and region. Once I had relocated to Hungary I trekked up to Eger’s tourist-hungry Szépasszony-völgy which left me ...

"It’s baaa—aaack! Yep, Café Alibi (Hungarian pronunciation: Awl-ee-bee) has remodeled and renovated and expanded and re-opened its doors. And not a moment too soon. I had started to have cheesecake withdrawal symptoms, and have been saved from a fate worse than substituting a Dobos Torta for my favorite Budapest cheesecake. Just in time for the autumn student rush, Café Alibi is once again open ...
