The local council of Budapest’s 5th district has sold the landmark Párizsi Udvar building near the Danube for 2.1 billion forints (EUR 6.9m) to Mellow Mood Group, which operates a luxury hotel in the neighbouring Klotild Palace. District mayor Antal Rogán said the local council lacked the several billions of forints required to renovate the building.

Foreign Interest In Hungarian Property Intensifies

Last year 1,365 foreigners got 1,267 Hungarian property ownership permits, the majority Russian. According to the data posted on the government’s website, this number has increased compared to 2011, when 1,069 foreign nationals obtained 1,120 permits, and 2012, when the respective numbers were 1,110 and 1,186.
