NBH Deputy Governor: Bank To Continue Easing Cycle

Hungary’s central bank (NBH) will cut the base rate until it reaches a rate that is consistent with its inflation target, NBH deputy governor Márton Nagy told journalists. The bank wants to keep rate the key rate low for a sustained period, he said. The NBH’s inflation target is 3% in a +/-1 percentage-point tolerance band.

“Pig run” is not an age-old Hungarian tradition, but a Facebook event spreading rapidly. Imre, the main organizer ran a pig-shaped lap alone in January, 2015. Now he also wants companions in the New Year. Thus the idea of the "pig run" was born. The 4,5 km-long jogging will start in front of the Erzsebet Square fountain at 9:30 am on Saturday, 2 January 2016.

Retail sales in Hungary could come close to 10,000 billion forints this year, the chief secretary of the National Association of Commerce (OKSZ) told public television. Retail sales have risen by 5%-6% on an annual basis, data published so far show, and the pace is likely to have continued in the last months of the year, György Vámos told news channel M1.
