Pedro Barateiro: The Sad Savages - In his lecture-performance Barateiro creates a parallel between two events happening at the same place; the cutting of palm trees caused by a plague and the financial crisis, especially its effect on Southern EU countries like Portugal, Spain and Greece.

The Indian Embassy in Budapest told XpatLoop.com they heartily invite all dance lovers to the performances of a Padmashree award winning dancer Pratibha Prahlad. The artist is performing around Hungary with her 13-member group between 11-16 February, and will dance in Budapest at the Central European University on Monday. Entry is free, but registration is needed.

The carnival season lasts from Epiphany (6 January) until Ash Wednesday and is typified by masks and costumes, but also eating and drinking, dance and parties. For this performance, the Tura Tradition-Keepers will conjure up a carnival atmosphere on stage and introduce ancient folk customs through games, singalongs and frenetic dancing.
