Museum Of Fine Arts: Reconstruction To Begin In February

Budapest’s famous Museum of Fine Arts on Heroes’ Square is to close its doors to visitors for a three-year period of reconstruction. Work on the iconic neo-Renaissance and neo-Classicist building, designed by architects Albert Schickedanz and Ferenc Fülöp Herzog and built between 1900 and 1906, will begin as early as next February.

The works of French masters are in focus at the rearranged 19th-century permanent exhibition that opened in the Budapest Fine Arts Museum on Thursday. The whole collection of the around 1,000 paintings and sculptures made after 1800 was already rearranged two times in the past, in 2005 and 2012, Zsófia Anna Kovács told reporters.

We kindly inform our visitors that due to technical reason on Thursday, 27th of March the Museum will be open between 10 am - 5 pm. The entry will be allowed until 4.00 pm. The closing of the permanent exhibitions will go on from 4.30 pm, while the temporary exhibition Raphael will close at 4.50 pm.
