The news broke on Sunday in Budapest: Hungarian politicians are getting fatter at a much higher rate than IMF and European Union quotas permit (just kidding). It’s true though (the fat part) and was reported by “leading tabloid” Blikk, who also slammed Tamas Deutch’s (who?) new look, which includes a beard and a T-shirt.

Seven men have been detained in connection with an assault on a policeman in Tura, Pest county, National Police spokesman László Garamvölgyi announced Thursday afternoon. The off-duty police ensign, Attila Alexander Darnyik, 33, was assaulted and beaten Wednesday night, after catching two suspects during a theft in progress. Relatives of the suspects then attacked the policeman.

He said progress has begun in Budapest and many people now cycle in the capital, so what they wanted has been achieved.
