He added that once Uber destroys Hungarian businesses services would become much dearer. About 100-120 taxi drivers began an unannounced demonstration in protest against car dispatcher Uber in central Budapest on Monday morning. Taxi drivers lined up their cars at the junction of Bajcsy-Zsilinszky and Jozsef Attila streets and Andrassy Avenue, all major thoroughfares, Budapest police said on its website.

Public transport services to the agglomeration of Budapest will operate until February 17, when the city’s new municipal budget is scheduled for approval, Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós, said. In talks with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in December last year it was agreed that Budapest has no obligation to finance transport in the agglomeration area, Tarlós told a press conference.
