Sirha, a biannual world food and catering show, opened at the Hungexpo grounds in Budapest on Monday. Budapest is hosting the event for the first time. Speaking at the opening, Rural Development Minister Sándor Fazekas said locally-produced food now accounts for three-fourths of all food consumed in Hungary.

Arctic Monkeys At VOLT Festival In Hungary

The winner of this year’s Brit Awards, also regarded as the band of the year by all relevant music forums, Arctic Monkeys will be performing at this year’s VOLT Festival! Not being in Europe during Sziget Festival the band agreed to please their fans in the region by playing a massive gig on 6 July (Sunday), right after the regular days of VOLT. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

In 1990 József Antall could consider himself, spiritually at least, prime minister of 15 million Hungarians but today Viktor Orbán can only refer to between 12 to 13 million. There are eight states in the Carpathian Basin of 285 000 sq km with a total population of 26 million.
