The common-law partner of a public transport fare dodger assaulted a ticket inspector on a tram in Budapest on Monday, cutting his lip, the Budapest Transport Centre announced. A woman riding on tram 14 without a ticket was fined by an inspector at the Lehel tér terminus of the tram.

The city of Debrecen will formally file a request today for a daily Ft 10 million indemnity payment from project managers who are far behind schedule on building a second tram line in the city. Mayor Lajos Kósa told a Thursday press conference that the ATK-Debrecen consortium was to have completed the project on May 31, but only 23% of the track and 32-33% of the terminal is completed.
