The Hungarian government has been actively recruiting new citizens from the neighboring countries, presumably to add to their vote total at the next national election. In order to be eligible for citizenship a person must have at least one ancestor who was a Hungarian citizen. He must also have some knowledge of the Hungarian language.

It is always a pleasure when you go to the Italian Institute Of Culture, and the “Kaleidoscopio Italia” event was no different. From the moment you step inside this sumptuous building you feel that wonderful style the Italians are renowned for. The subtle tastes, smells and colours did not fill this vast area but elegantly decorated it.

“Kürtőskalács” or “kürtős kalács” is a Hungarian pastry also known as chimney cake or stove cake. It is baked on a tapered cylindrical spit over an open fire. In the past decades, it became popular to bake it in special gas- and electric ovens.
