See What Happened @ Masaaki Miyasako Exhibition In Budapest
In the West now, for some time, there has been a great fascination and resurgence of the East, and with Japan comes this beautiful understated style. This is more apparent in everyday life from food, music, clothing and art. And it is beginning to influence not just what we do, but how we do it.

Taken from the forward of the exhibition “A spiritual culture that reaches the heart has been represented by paintings using the technique known as urazaishiki (applying colour to the reverse side of a painting), forming new space-time and universe elements while retaining traditional aspects, wrapping these around a spiral. I hope to share the joy of this experience with the people of Hungary”. (artist Masaaki Miyasako)

Without wanting to sound too pretentious, it well describes this wonderful temporary exhibition in the equally wonderful Budapest History Museum. I spent a morning taking in this calm, non-intrusive, warm work. I got that slight feeling of the art of “Zen” and became very relaxed and chilled.
