Hurts, Nero And Modestep Coming To VOLT Festival In Hungary

With new names added to the line-up there are more than twenty international stars playing at the 22nd VOLT Festival this summer. Due to a huge demand Hurts will return this year to Sopron, while thousands are eagerly waiting for the live shows of Nero and Modestep as well. Karnivool, the chart topping Milky Chance and The Strypes – opening for the Arctic Monkeys - are also part of the program.

The history of the New York Palace dates back to the 70s of the 19th century when a talented young man from Upper Hungary called Max Aufricht arrived to Budapest with a teacher’s diploma and a silver forint in his pocket. But his poverty was paired with immense ambition; he obtained a doctoral degree in law and learned French.

The winner of this year’s Brit Awards, also regarded as the band of the year by all relevant music forums, Arctic Monkeys will be performing at this year’s VOLT Festival! Not being in Europe during Sziget Festival the band agreed to please their fans in the region by playing a massive gig on 6 July (Sunday), right after the regular days of VOLT. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

The organizers of Sziget have announced a new list of names, already confirmed for the 2014 event. At the ‘Island of Freedom’ The Prodigy, Lily Allen, Ska-P and La Roux will also perform. Sziget Festival is held between 11-18 August.

The venue of the series of evenings “Wine & Violin”, the Fono Music Hall (Fonó Budai Zeneház), is a relatively small, intimate place in Buda. New all-stars were added to the VOLT Festival line-up. The organizers announced Thirty Seconds To Mars, You Me at Six, Birdy and many others to this year’s program. A mysterious post on the official Facebook page revealed that the event will be one day longer this time, however details will follow only next week.

Although the classic old warhorse, one of the most often played tunes in the world, Take 5 had been composed by Jerry’s predecessor, Paul Desmond, Jerry himself also did justice to it several times.
