Special Advent Light Installations Diverse Festive Program in Budapest's City Park
- 3 Dec 2025 5:17 PM
According to a statement sent to MTI by Városliget Zrt., the most grandiose Advent period in the history of Városliget began on the last weekend of November, culminating in the light installation complex realized in the vicinity of the Millennium House.
As they wrote, the center of the festive period in the City Park is the Millennium House and its immediate surroundings, where visitors are greeted by a meticulously designed, spectacular light show: upon arrival at the location, the path leads through the Rose Garden, through a real tunnel of light, and the atmosphere is completed by the rose arbor, which is densely covered with fairy lights.
The venue will also recall one of the most popular attractions of the Park, the BalloonFly lookout tower, which will return in an unusual form: a miniature balloon richly dressed with Christmas lights and decorations evokes the experience of floating.
The park's Advent decoration will be completed by dressing the Zsolnay fountain in a winter flood of lights, offering a unique spectacle to visitors, they said.
Highlighted:
During the Advent period, the City Park's program includes more than two dozen events at eight locations, including Advent singing, Christmas story performances, and the popular Santa Claus orienteering race.
According to the information, the park's cultural institutions are welcoming families with more than two dozen programs at eight locations in the pre-Christmas period; the House of Hungarian Music, the Museum of Ethnography, the Museum of Fine Arts, the ResoArt Villa and the Millennium House are joining the series of events with particularly diverse holiday programs this year.
Joining the Christmas experience offer, Liget's gastronomic venues, from the Pavilion Garden to the Airship Garden, await visitors with festive delicacies as well as classic and seasonal dishes.
They remembered:
When planning the Liget Budapest Project, a key goal was to renew and improve the quality of the park's event offerings, and this year's Advent season reflects the realization of this idea.
As they wrote, the City Park now operates as one of the most modern, most vibrant and most family-friendly venues in the capital, where the festive program simultaneously preserves traditions and presents the park's 21st-century image, they emphasized.
It was highlighted that, thanks to the renewal of the park, a complex festive program was created this year, which is a rarity even in international comparison: visitors to the park can enjoy the centuries-old traditions of the City Park Ice Rink, the Széchenyi Thermal Bath, and the patina of the Vajdahunyad Castle in one location.
This classic experience is being elevated to a 21st-century level by world-class cultural institutions implemented as part of the Liget Budapest Project: the Ethnographic Museum, the House of Hungarian Music, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Millennium House, which contribute to the light of Advent in the City Park not only as architectural masterpieces, but also with a rich festive program offering, they added.
More information about other holiday programs taking place in the City Park can be found at https://ligetbudapest.hu/advent-a-ligetben - the summary states.
