See You in the Air! is the new act of the Budapest Dance Theatre, which was inspired by Pablo Servigne’s book, L’Entraide.
According to the rule of nature, all living things compete against one another for survival, but the sociologist talks about another rule, which is collaboration. He demonstrates through several examples that in extreme situations, cooperation is encoded in us instead of competing.
This performance of the Budapest Dance Theatre concentrates on collaboration and teamwork as opposed to the competitive attitude embedded in today’s society.
The act illustrates the cooperation which can help us exceed the limitations of our egos and defeat our own selfishness arising from fear. Is it a utopian thought to put the interest of the community before that of the individual?
Through extreme situations, the ensemble raises awareness of our dependence on one another, cooperation as a catalyst and trust which enables us to meet challenges.
The individual cannot achieve certain goals that are possible through working with others. Being able to fly has been a thousand-year-old wish of humankind.
No one can fly alone, however, if our partners stand with – or below – us, we are able to defeat the laws of physics and float in the air. See you in the air!
