Oracle, National Dance Theatre Budapest, 16 October
What does the future hold for us?

This has been one of the most pressing questions of humanity since time immemorial, and now we turn to Oracle for the answer. Even if it does not lead us to understanding the mysteries of the world, we can certainly gain valuable insights through symbols.

The fusion of the show's choreographer, Attila Tókos, and the Budapest Dance Theatre creates a new and dazzling dance union, where the elemental power inherent in archaic circle dances captivates anyone and anything that comes its way.

Oracle, the performance that combines the power of ancient dances with the dynamism of contemporary art, transports us to a world where every movement reveals the mysteries of the future. Get ready for an exciting, abstract journey, where past and future intertwine and prophecies come to life.

Shamans, magicians, prophets, oracles – they are all beings endowed with supernatural powers and chosen for special tasks. Questions probing the future are the eternal riddles of human communities. People time and again look for something to hold on to, reaching back to ancient teachings that can provide positive reinforcement: community strength, rites, sacrality and traditions. But the extremes of the world and human society always cause these cultures and aspirations to fade away.

The creator reflects on this: why is this happening, what is the meaning or meaninglessness of it? A thought-provoking performance is presented to us, asking provocative questions about the future and about how we can shape it, and the predictions come to life.
