10:10 Hungary Campaign Launch
- 3 Aug 2010 3:00 AM
This well attended and fun public event has once again turned the spotlight on the UK as a climate champion.
Hosting the event in a trendy venue with green credentials and securing performances by four of the most popular Hungarian underground music bands ensured a large and varied audience.
As patron of the campaign in Hungary, HM Ambassador Greg Dorey was joined at the event by his counterparts in the Budapest Green Embassies Group as well as Péter Olajos, Undersecretary of State for Energy and Climate Policy in the Ministry of Economy and green NGOs active in awareness raising on greener living. The Secretary of State for Environment and heads of section and advisers to the Undersecretary for Energy and Climate Policy were also among the guests.
The opening was moderated by Hungarian teen-star "Lola". Throughout the event 10:10 volunteers provided the opportunity for attendees to sign-up on line and six NGOs offered carbon-cutting advice to the guests. They also exhibited green products and distributed information material.
Another highlight of the programme was the screening of the dubbed version of the film "The Age of Stupid”, followed by a lively Skype chat with the producer, Lizzie Gillet.
The core 10:10 coalition, brought together by the Embassy, are committed to the campaign and will work closely with the campaign team to promote and participate in all activities up to and beyond the Global 10:10 Action Day on 10 October.
If you haven't signed up to 10:10 yet, join the campaign now!"
