Sziget Festival In Budapest, 11 - 16 August
"Up-to-date stars of the international festival scene, well-known favourites of the local audience from the past few years, and internationally popular acts that are not yet well-acquainted in Hungary – this year's Sziget Main Stage is going to be populated by productions of the above-mentioned kind. The program of the Main Stage of Sziget from 9th to 16th August is ready for you to check now.

On the minus first day Kispál will do their farewell-gig, and day zero will see a Reggae-Ska Celebration.

Kispál is surely about to surprise us with something great for the minus first day of Sziget because not a word is being heard about their farewell-gig at Sziget. So far we've managed to find out that there will be a set of their ancient songs and a unique stage-design spiced up with a colourful visual medley, moreover we also know that Tibi Kiss, Líviusz, Juci Németh, Csík Zenekar will all be featured as their star guests on the stage.

On World Music Main Stage we are going to do a homage to Tamás Cseh, and on the BJC-Amphitheatrum Stage international stars will merge with Hungarian headliners within the compass of the II. Hungarian Jazz Day, whereas we can have a heck of a good time on the Main Stage within the frame of the Reggae and Ska Celebration. Unfortunately Skatalities not only cancelled their performance at Sziget but all their summer shows, so the other performers Ladánybene 27 feat KRSA and PASO Brass, Aggrolites, Toots & The Maytals, Wailers and UB40 will get more space this day.

And now let's take a closer look at festival days in the reflection of the Main Stage:

Wednesday:

Right on the first day the American band Gwar will launch a crazy period piece at Sziget. They will be followed by The Toys Dollz, which has achieved a cult state by now, and then the Basque group Ska-P will return for an international ska-happening after their highly successful gig at Sziget last year. Another guest returning to the Main Stage will be the most successful rockband of Sweden: The Hives, the band that's been famous of their outrageously crazy garage-music and black and white stage-outfits all over the world ever since they've started. And we will get the chance to party to the greatest party-band of all times: Madness, the band whose music is based on the traditions of British beat-music, cabaret-music, topical songs and ska of Jamaican origins will be the headliner of the first festival day of Sziget, on Wednesday, on 11th August, at peaktime.

Thursday:

Thursday afternoon will see K.I.Z., a rapband that is often defined as a punk-techno medley and consists of a bunch of hip guys from Berlin. They will be followed by Young Punx who play an interesting mixture of classical French house, 80's pop, hard, glam and disco-rock, and thus offer us a mash-up partymusic to go crazy to, and then, to everybody's pleasure, Johnny Rotten's band – whose civilian name is John Lydon – Public Image Ltd. will invade the stage. New Musical Express has given the lifework-award to the next performer of Sziget this year, The Specials who have only accepted the invitation of two other festivals apart from Sziget this summer. The headliner of the day will be Faithless who have already done a number of huge shows, and their gig this year is also bound to attract a big crowd this year.

Friday:

Lyapis Trubetskoy's works are well-received by critics from Russia to Portugal, and they have already collected a number of high-ranking awards. This year they get a chance at Sziget to be known worldwide. Papa Roach is in constant training and is therefore always able to score high, so this year he will do his spectacular rock-exercises on the Main Stage of Sziget. Germany's most famous reggae-artist, Köln-based Gentleman will present his freshest studio album Diversity at Sziget. A bright popstar is bound to arrive too, Friday's early evening performer will be one of the most-talented artists of the contemporary pop music, Mika. The song The Kill had over 34 million views on YouTube, and now you will get the chance to see Jared Leto's band Thirty Second to Mars live. They've been on the top of the Sziget-wishlist for ages, by the way.
Saturday:

After the Appenini-peninsula, Subsonica will make an attempt to entice the audience of Sziget this summer. The Cribs is a band that is successful both in the realms of critics and the audience, with their album Ignore the Ignorant, they are in their perfect form right now. Tankcsapda – since their audience would be too big for any other venue – will be the only Hungarian band on the Main Stage. The evening star of the first day of the Sziget-weekend will be heavy metal legend Iron Maiden whose new album is about to be released in mid-August.

Sunday:

Over the Carpatians and the Donyeck-basin, widely popular wild motorists Death Valley Screamers will do a show at Sziget, too, right as the first performers on the last day of the event. They will be followed by their fellow-citizens, the band Rada, so that their singer could awaken the mysteries of Ukraine with her wonderful voice within the compass of an enchanting, mesmerizing concert on the Main Stage.

Danko Jones will join the performers of Sziget with their new studio album released in May entitled Below the Belt. Within the frame of a monstre tour, Billy Talent from Canada will be the guest of Budapest now, too. Besides the greatest British music festivals, Sziget-vistors now get a chance to get to know the freshest album of Kasabian from last year, which has been selected as the best album of the year by the critics of Q magazine and NME. The last day of Sziget will be closed by Muse on the Main Stage – a band that has been referred to by critics and experts as one of the best rockband ever."
