CBA Aims For The Top Spot In Hungary
"CBA aims to become the market leader in food retail once again by opening new stores and taking over units from companies exiting the market, chairman László Baldauf told a Wednesday press conference. The retailer, which celebrates its 20th birthday this year, was the market leader in 2000, he added.

“Hungarian companies must regain the leading positions in retail trade,” he declared. “If we look abroad, we see that markets there are dominated by local retailers”.

CBA is in talks with retail chains that are moving out of the country, but Baldauf did not specify.

It is no secret that CBA teamed up with Hungarian-owned Coop in an effort to buy Match, Profi and Cora units from the Belgian Louis Delhaize group, Napi Gazdaság writes.

Since that news emerged last November, French hypermarket chain Auchan made a successful bid for Cora’s Hungarian operations, leaving Match and Profi as potential targets for new acquisitions.

Revenues at CBA rose slightly to Ft 565 billion last year, from Ft 555 billion in 2010. The number of units remained unchanged at 3,372. CBA has 35,000 employees and 1,500 franchise partners running its outlets."
