Parliamentary Caucus Rule Change Deals New Blow To Party Of Former PM Gyurcsány

Parliament’s constitutional committee decided in November that MPs who left the Socialist Party to join the Democratic Coalition could obtain official caucus status once the statutory six-month waiting period had passed.
That period would have ended next week but the amended House rule will take effect the day after its promulgation.
Former prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsány yesterday described the change in the House rules as petty revenge on the part of the prime minister.
Coalition vice-president Csaba Molnár said they might take the matter to the Constitutional Court and European forums."
