Night of Museums, Children's Railway, Budapest, 16 June
On Saturday, 16th June 2012 we are going to offer nightly train rides, walks through the woods and a drive-in cinema, among other programmes, on the Long Night of Museums.

Children's Railway Museum

The Children's Railway Museum in Huvosvolgy is going to extend its hours until 2:00 o'clock in the morning.

The exhibition room will admit visitors free of charge from 18:00 hrs, the official start of the event.

The museum presents the story of the Children's Railway and the former Pioneers' Railway. The eras and significant milestones of the more than six decades are shown in photos, original items, tools, uniforms and models.

The museum is located at Huvosvolgy Station. Its entrance is from Platform 1.

Nightly walks to the highest elevation in town

Special nightly walks are going to be started from Viragvolgy Station to the Erzsebet Lookout Tower on the peak of Janos-hegy, the highest elevation of Budapest. Tour guides will be provided.

The short excursions are going to start hourly, shortly after nightly services arrive at Viragvolgy Station. The last one will take place right after the arrival of the service that departs Huvosvolgy Station at 22:30 hrs.

The walks will end at Janos-hegy Station in time for the next service bound for Huvosvolgy Station.

Nightly train rides

On Saturday, 16th June 2012 services are going to be operated until the early hours of the next morning at the Children's Railway.

Contrary to the daytime timetable, some services are going to run from Huvosvolgy to Csilleberc or Viragvolgy Station only. The last service is going to return to Huvosvolgy Station at 2:50 in the dawn.

Departures from Huvosvolgy Station:

18:30: regular diesel engine service - (bound for Szechenyi-hegy Station)
19:30: steam engine service - (bound for Viragvolgy Station only)
20:30: heritage railcar service - (bound for Szechenyi-hegy Station)
21:30: regular diesel engine service - (bound for Csilleberc Station)
22:30: heritage railcar service - (bound for Szechenyi-hegy Station)
23:30: steam engine service - (bound for Viragvolgy Station only)
0:30: regular diesel engine service - (bound for Csilleberc Station)

Passengers possessing the Long Night of Museums armband are entitled to discounted tickets of HUF 300 to ride any train service. Standard fares are payable by others. The standard fares apply even on steam engine services.

In the evening Huvosvolgy Station can be approached by Tram No 61 from Szell Kalman ter (Moszkva ter) in central Budapest.

Bus No 956 provides a public transportation link between Huvosvolgy and Szell Kalman ter after the closing hour of the tram service.
