Hungarian And Foreigner Policemen At The 20th Sziget Festival In Budapest
Antal Horváth, lieutenant colonel and head of Budapest District III Police Departement, Ms. Theresa Bubbear, executive of British Embassy in Hungary and Károly Gerendai, managing director of Sziget held a press conference about the achievements of the police station at the 20th Sziget festival.

According to lieutenant colonel Horváth, the presence of police officers is necessary in order to provide the best possible festival experience for the visitors. He claimed becoming a victim of typical festival crimes could be avoided with certain precautions and observing some basic safety rules. He also talked about the crimes that have happened at Sziget so far – the number of these is so far behind last year’s –, and emphasized the smooth connection with the foreigner colleagues and security service of Sziget.

Ms. Bubbear spoke about the last 5 years of this cooperation in Hungarian and she expressed her hope to continue it in the future, because the presence of British police officers is not only providing the feeling of safety for visitors, but they are also popular amongst them.

Gerendai thanked the work of the police and emphasized that compared to the number of people at the festival, crime statistics are good, there are mostly smaller thefts. The managing director also stressed that the key of this relatively low ratio is the joint effort of visitors and police officers to prevent illegal acts.
