Invitation: III. Kaposvár International Chamber Music Festival, Hungary, 14 - 20 August

The festival, that attracts about 15 thousand visitors and about 70-80 million listeners through the radio, will be held for the third time thanks to artistic director Katalin Kokas and festival director György Bolyki. The festival will consist of 14 chamber music concerts, all of which are of a world-class level. All season tickets were sold out within a month, and by the time of august, it is nearly impossible to buy tickets for the individual concerts, too.
The artist rooster also contributes to its success, with names as Zoltán Kocsis, Ivry Gitlis, Barnabás Kelemen, Alina Ibragimova and Jonathan Cohen. Many of them have been to the festival before and had such a wonderful time that they cancelled other, old and well-known festivals to come to Kaposvar.
The Szivárvány Music Hall, as the central venue of the festival, with its perfect acoustics, will contribute to the good-quality radio broadcasts by the Hungarian National Radio, Bartok, that will be broadcasted to all over the world. According to the EBU, these concerts are listened to in many thousands of households.
“The audience of the Kaposvár Festival is the most attractive tourists, most of whom will accomodate in Kaposvar for this week. We think that alongside with music, we should offer them high quality programs in other fields, too.” Says festivaldirector György Bolyki.
This year’s festival will hold full house concerts, too, accompanied by film club with András Réz, a concert of the Bolyki Soul&Gospel Choir, and a great quality exhibitions. One of these is the exhibition “Treasures of the Esterhazy Collection” with works never exhibited before, the pictures of photographer Juan Gyenes, and the exhibition “Contemporaries” with 22 pieces out of which, 11 is invited, by the most famous painters of Hungary, and the other 11 is part of the competition.
The exhibition is curated by art historian Janos Sturz. The exhibitors are: Braun András, Czene Márta, Gál András, Győrffy László, Hajdú Kinga, iski Kocsis Tibor, Jakatics-Szabó Veronika, Kis Róka Csaba, Kósa János, Szabó Ábel, Szűcs Attila, Dobó Bianka, Cseke Szilárd, Király Gábor, Szakszon Imre, Deli Eszter, Hámori Anett, Kántor Ágnes, Szunyoghy Viktória, Verebics Ágnes, Barakonyi Zsombor, Kopasz Tamás.
