Shopline Introduces Sales By QR Code In Hungary
Online retailer Shopline has introduced QR code shopping to Hungary on Monday, initially making it possible to buy products via smartphone. The technology allows consumers to express a desire to buy products by taking a picture of, for example, a billboard advertising that product.

The consumer is then directed to visit a website on his or her smartphone, to order the product.

During its current campaign Shopline will deliver the goods free of charge.

Initially, only a PocketBook e-reader and a Lego Star Wars Darth Vader lamp will be sold by QR code.

Shopline is co-operating with MasterCard, FHB Bank, Telenor, T-Mobil and Cellum in exploiting the technology.

In this first phase, the QR codes are displayed on nearly 200 billboards in Budapest, mostly at bus stops and metro stations.
