Xpat Opinion: Great New Fresh Fish Bistro In Budapest

They do take bookings via mobile +36-30-226 0638, but walk-in’s are always welcome. All fish is advertised as fresh rather than frozen, and the daily fixed menu costs between 990 and 1290 Ft. Naturally there are fine Hungarian wines on hand, as well as craft beers, and a good palinka selection. Outdoor seating is available, as are take-away and catering services.
The young and enthusiastic owners are welcome fish ambassadors in this land-locked country, where fish consumption is among the lowest in the European Union. As you may know, in Hungary the vast majority of fish is consumed around Christmas time, and we all know there is far more fish to enjoy than just that serving of carp.
One reason for the low fish consumption here might well be the inability of many local restaurants to cook up a decent fish feast. So here's the really good news, this place knows how to do it right. Certainly from a nutritional point of view, this affordable café style restaurant deserves a visit in order to keep up the healthy habit of eating fresh fish all year round.
Finally a bit more Xpat feedback, this time from Charlie Symmons, "the paintings close to the counter are from a local artist who specialises in painting fish :)" Overall the interior decoration is modest yet cosy, the service is swift, so it’s ideal of a light but satisfying snack, midday meal, or healthy evening fish feast.
