Robert Burns International Foundation Website Gets A Makeover
Words by Robin Marshall: If you have been in Hungary for at least a year, the chances are you have already heard of the Budapest Burns Supper, one of the biggest charity fundraisers in the country. But you may be less aware of the foundation behind it, and that is something organizers are aiming to fix.

The Burns Supper is a traditional Scottish evening (complete with haggis, pipes and drums) held by Scots across the world in honour of Robert “Rabbie” Burns, the country’s national poet. In Budapest, it has also become a major charity event, with more than EUR 1 million raised over the past 15 years to help sick and underprivileged children in Hungary.

Plans are now being drawn up for the 16th annual supper, which will be held in the stunning ballroom of the Corinthia Hotel Budapest (a long-time sponsor) on Saturday, 26 January 2013. To better promote the evening, and the Robert Burns International Foundation, (RBIF) a new website has been launched detailing the history of the foundation, the supper, and many of the projects it has supported.

If you want to know more about Burns himself, the Budapest Burns Supper past and present, the RBIF, buy tickets for the evening and even – if you pay taxes in Hungary – learn how to donate 1% of your personal income tax at no cost to you.

Most important of all, of course, mark your calendar for 26 January 2013 and buy a ticket for the event. And you can always book a table of 10 for your company or a group of friends.
