Among the biggest names appearing this year is Nicole Krauss, trumpeted by the New York Times as “one of the most important novelists in the United States”. Marcus du Sautoy, Professor of Maths at the University of Oxford, will be here to read from his new book about the ‘mysteries of symmetry’. Joumana Haddad, a Lebanese poet, journalist and translator, will also take part, as will Fernando Savater, one of Spain’s most popular philosophers.
Carl Bernstein - who uncovered the US Watergate scandal – plus three key Hungarian poets Peter Závada, Márton Simon and István Pion are also on the bill. Plus Hungarian author Péter Esterházy will talk about his most recent novel, Not Art: A Novel.
Just like last year all local language events are simultaneously translated into English, this year the festival runs from 17-20 May.
