Restaurant Review: Pavillon De Paris In The Heart Of Buda
Pavillon de Paris opened its doors in 2010 taking over from the Jardin de Paris located just opposite to the French Institute in the tiny “French quarter” just minutes away from the Chain Bridge. The elegant Parisian style restaurant offers French specialities such as goose liver (foie gras) as a starter, salmon tartare or the sheer duck breast (magret de canard) with honey and lavender sauce.

As for me, I chose the cod fillet served with small vegetables and a special kind of mashed potatoes with its strange colour, but enticing taste. The fish was fresh and delicious and the portion was satisfactory. The presentation of the food was just like in French brasseries, with the big white plates and minimalist decoration.

For dessert, I picked the classic crème brulee, which remained true to the authentic French flavours, and was served at room temperature just like it should be.

I could enjoy this culinary experience in the romantic garden of the restaurant, which reminded me of the rustic, old-styled, and welcoming Provence. The place is quite pricey, but if you choose the weekly two or three course bistro menu, then it’s less straining on the wallets and en plus there is a gift from the chef. Certainly, the menu is only available for lunch, just like in Paris.

The restaurant is suitable to hold bigger events, such as birthdays or weddings, but perfect for quiet and romantic dinners as well. With the friendly staff and traditional French style and service it is definitely worth a try.
