Ópusztaszer National Historical Memorial Park Becomes A Hungarian National Memorial Site
The Ópusztaszer National Historical Memorial Park was declared a National Memorial Site on the Day of National Unity. Minister of State heading the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár declared that the Day of National Unity is also the day of real Europeanness and the day of regime change without compromise.

János Lázár stated that Europe for the Hungarians is not about giving up national identity, but is about mutually respected national identities and the unconditional representation of national interests.

We want a Europe of nations in which borders do not separate us, but connect us, and where the system of national cooperation and the cooperation between nations overwrites everything including citizenship, national borders, politics, history and Trianon, he said.

The Minister of State emphasised that the Government insists on the institute of dual citizenship and on cross border cooperation, and it endeavours to achieve the inclusion of all Hungarian communities within the European Union and the Schengen area.

There are a total of 11 registered national memorial sites In Hungary.
