Budapest Airport Establishes Its Own Security Company
As of 1 July, Budapest Airport has launched its own security company, BUD Security Kft. The airport operator’s primary aim with the new subsidiary is to provide aviation-related security services, supplementing its existing security departments.

BUD Security Kft., Budapest Airport’s wholly owned security company, commenced operation on 1 July with 65 employees. The new subsidiary supplements existing security departments, primarily performing work in aviation security and security consulting.

The establishment of the new venture does not affect Budapest Airport’s own employees. It is planned that BUD Security Kft. will also pursue other, primarily security activities in future, whereby it can also provide services to other companies operating at the airport and abroad.

Budapest Airport decided to implement a more flexible corporate model, which also allows it to enter the security services market, after the flight schedule and the structure of passenger traffic at the airport were completely transformed in the wake of the grounding of the Hungarian national carrier Malév.

An added advantage of the new company in terms of the labor market is that the majority of the employees who had been working at the airport through manpower leasing agencies now received indefinite-term positions offering much greater job security.

“The launch of BUD Security Kft. is a great step forward for the airport,” commented Jost Lammers, the CEO of Budapest Airport. “The primary beneficiaries of the more efficient and more flexible work management will be the passengers, in the form of smaller queues and shorter waiting times prior to departure.

Indirectly, as the new subsidiary will perform an increasing number of activities according to our plans, it will also create more and more job opportunities at the airport,” he added.
