Foreign Tourist Numbers Up in October in Hungary
Guest nights at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary rose 8.5pc to 3,425,000 in October from the same period a year earlier, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) show.

The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers climbed 4.2pc to 1,596,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors increased 12.5pc to 1,829,000.

Revenue of commercial accommodations, which include hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, camp sites, resorts and hostels, rose 21pc to HUF 91bn.

A total of 24,613 tourism accommodations hosted guests in October, including 2,479 commercial accommodations and 22,134 private and other accommodations.

For the period January-October, the number of guest nights at tourism accommodations rose 5.3pc year-on-year to 38,450,000. The number spent by domestic travellers increased 1.9pc to 19,522,000 and the number spent by foreign tourists climbed 9.0pc to 18,928,000.

Commenting on the fresh data, the National Economy Ministry noted that guest nights in the capital were close to 1,500,000 and foreign visitors accounted for almost 1,300,000 of those. Revenue from tourism accommodations excluding ones in the capital reached HUF 47bn, the ministry said.
