How did the change from Champagnecar to Dreamcar?

The extant booking books from the Benz factory we didn't find the owners' names, but we knew that the first car of Benz was the 375 vehicle identification number car, the Velo what started her road to Budapest in 20th of June, 1896. Probable the buyer of this car was Béla Hatschek.

We got some newer facts of the extant booking books from Benz, and we could find out that another car, Victoria, a tripcar also started to go to Hungary in 10th of February, 1897. After that two Velo car followed it, the 447 VIN (vehicle identification number) on 2nd of April, and the 553 VIN in July.

Also in July, another Victoria, 451 VIN, stayed in a railway carriage, the destination was Budapest.

In a lot of publication we can see that József Törley from Csantavér (he got his popularity with his champagnes) got to know the necessary of the automobiles. We place that in 100 per cent to that he was the man who booked the car what made by Benz in 10th of February, 1897. This lettering is in the Fovárosi Levéltár.

József Törley turned to the Townhall of Budapest with a memorial in 24th of February in 1897.

"We got the luck, we have got a 5 HP (horsepower) automobile, from what we inform the town counciller. We ask for this car direction and notice as soon as possible with much honour. "

The assigns of the Town Hall was at a loss, because they felt themselves at home in a building licenses. Finally the Hall of the Engineers did the license.

The memorandums give a reason for the testing road by Benz in Budapest at 3rd of April in 1897.

"The Town Hall organised a testroad for the reason of the using and the manoeuvrability from the Fovám Square to Bridge Ferencz József, Gellért wharf, Palota street, Albrecht street, Láncz Bridge, Dorottya and the Váczi Street to the House of Újváros. On this testroad every function of the car was worked perfectly in tight streets, on the up grades in lunchtime. But these functions are not depend on the driver, we adice that drivers have to take an exam about their ability. The cars driver just can be a man who get this exam. The driver of the car is József Jávor, from Nógrád."

The view of Budapest wasn't changed for many years, the drivers had to take an exams, but the cars hadn't. Béla Rudnay, the captain of the police of Budapest thought that the cars also have to take an exam, because there weren't tried and the experiences shows there aren't comfortable and safe.

One year later was born that statue what takes in law the number of the cars in Budapest and taking to that registration number, moreover the drivers must to take driving licence.

The first exam day Törley was in the group of the first men whose wanted to take the exam. In the 2700 squaremetres what we can come and go in our days too, he kept his champagnes and showed his old and not used cars.

That's why the Champagnecar Collection was the forefather of the Dreamcar Collection. József Törley was the keen aid the automobiles in Hungary to his death in 1907."
