Invitation: Vilmos Jávori - Remembering A Jazz Legend, National Concert Hall, 24 October
- 21 Oct 2013 9:00 AM
I inherited my love of music from my grandparents, my grandmother having been the country's first female drummer, active in the world of bebop and swing back in the 1920s. My father brought home CDs and a record player as gifts from his foreign tours and concerts, so we got to hear the music of Itzhak Perlman, John Eliot Gardiner, Keith Jarrett and Quincy Jones alike. When I first got involved with music, the best teachers in the country were teaching: Dr. Edith Molnár, Dr. László Fényes, Katalin Jankó, László Kóté, Vilmos Szabadi, János Fogarasi, Ferenc Tornóczki and Béla Szakcsi Lakatos.
As a composer, I travel the world with an open heart and open eyes. Love, talent and belief are as much at one in music as in life. This is the same musical holy trinity followed by those with whom I’ve created the album Mi Padre. Anyone listening to this record will get a little taste of this unity.
The Mi Padre album reflects the wonderful individuality of Hungarian art and music. My good friend Péter Sárik played an active role in putting together the record and the concert, as did Gergőely Bogányi, Tony and Roby Lakatos, Irén Lovász, Vilmos Szabadi, Robióbert Szakcsi Lakatos, Irén Lovász, Péter Wolf, Vilmos Szabadi, Tony and Roby Lakatos, the actor Gyula Bodrogi and the film director István Szabó and the actor Gyula Bodrogi. I’d like to thank them, as well as the nearly 160 other people who agreed it would be a good idea to hold this commemoration of my father (Mi Padre).” (Dávid Jávori)
The HUF 24,900 ticket also includes a Mi Padre CD and an invitation to the dinner following the concert.
