Updated: Budapest’s Whale (Bálna) Building To Open In November
The 'whale' that prominently rests on the side of Pest's riverbank, between the Petőfi and Szabadság bridges - the structure that used to be referred to as the CET building - seems to be reaching calm waters now. After years of dispute over the fate of this giant structure, the obstacles to it fully operating have finally gone, and it's ready to open up at the end of this month.

It will function as a cultural, gastronomic, and commercial centre by offering something different on each floor. On level -1 there will be flea and antique markets, on the ground floor restaurants and shops, and on the other floors there are showrooms, function rooms, and the 'Budapest Gallery' will welcome visitors.

According to Deputy Mayor Gábor Bagdy, the Wale can become a representative building (of the capital) and a great tourist attraction, the “Eiffel Tower” of Budapest.
