Magic Wall: New Interactive 'Music Lexicon' at Budapest's 'House of Music'
The diverse world of Hungarian music, from classical masters to the most famous figures of pop, rock, jazz and electronic music, can be explored with the help of the new interactive installation of the House of Music Hungary.

The Magic Wall – Hungarian Music Lexicon presents the lives and works of more than a thousand Hungarian musicians, composers and performers.

On the touch-screen information wall, visitors can not only read about their favorite performers, but also view photos and listen to music recordings. The special search system allows us to roam the Hungarian musical universe by styles, eras and artists, the institution told MTI on Wednesday.

"Just as music belongs to everyone, so too can music knowledge belong to all of us, and I am glad that with this touch-screen wall, the house's outreach profile has finally become complete," the communiqué quoted Márton Horn, the institutional director of the House of Music Hungary.

The content of the Magic Wall was compiled by the house's professional team over the course of about two years, and it is constantly updated to provide the most complete, authentic, and comprehensive picture of our musical heritage and recent domestic musical events.

The announcement highlighted that since its inception, the House of Music Hungary has considered the dissemination of musical knowledge its core task, whether it be through interactive concerts, exhibitions, music education sessions, special traveling programs in disadvantaged areas, or the Pop Cultural Club Library, which makes the archive of Hungarian pop music available.

The Magic Wall is located on the exhibition level of the House of Music Hungary. The free platform aims to present the greatest figures of Hungarian music in an exciting and easily accessible way for all ages on a spectacular, digital platform.

The ever-expanding database currently covers the period up to the turn of the millennium, but will soon include 21st century artists. The installation helps young and old alike navigate with visual games, search options, and unique features.

The info wall is a development of Back és Rosta Kft. The Hungarian company has successfully installed the Magic Wall in many countries around the world and works with more than 450 institutions, including the Beijing Palace Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Tate Modern and the Chicago Art Institute.
