Now On: 'Capa +' Exhibition, Hungarian National Gallery Budapest
What was Robert Capa? A restless migrant who could never settle down? A photo-reporter and war journalist who was also a writer and film-maker? A hero, praised by the best writers of his generation? A charmeur loved by women? A man with a passion for gambling? What do we know about him? Do we know what constraints and expectations shaped his career?

Do we know what constraints and expectations shaped his career? Do we know where he came from, where he got to, what mark he left on the world? How did people see him and how do we see him today? What does his figure tell us about the century that saw him reach the very top of his profession? Our exhibition attempts to show the range of possibilities, the context of an extraordinary life. By presenting possible roles, we offer historically-based answers to the question: what was Robert Capa?
