“Urgent” Upgrade Needed For Hungaroring In Hungary
Both a spokesperson and CEO of Hungaroring Sports have recently publicly stated that Budapest’s Formula One racetrack is in need of major repairs – repairs that somehow must be addressed before the running of the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 27.

Hungaroring Sports spokesperson Ágnes Kovács described the track’s surface, drainage and electronic equipment as “outdated,” but reassured that “funding negotiations with the government are at an advanced stage.” Late last week, Hungaroring Sports director Zsolt Gyulay stated on the M1 television station that about HUF 100 million/€3 million would be required to fund the necessary repairs.

Just before the running of the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix in July, it was announced that the Hungaroring had earned an extension with Formula One to hold the event through 2020. The last two seasons have turned a profit for the race track, the first time in the track's existence, according to Development Ministry statistics.
