Hungarian National Security Committee To Convene Over Leaking “Lies Speech”
Parliament’s national security committee will convene next Thursday to discuss circumstances how the infamous “lies speech” of ex-premier Ferenc Gyurcsány was leaked in 2006, the head of the committee told MTI. The committee will be able to learn that a report made about the speech is real and “finally Gyurcsány can stop insinuations”, Máté Kocsis said. Gyurcsány must have had an interest at the time in turning public attention away from economic problems, he added.

Socialist lawmaker Zsolt Molnár called it worthy of note that the case was surfacing in the election campaign. The Socialists want to reveal the truth in its entirety and has asked for all relevant documents to be made available.

Earlier this month, two redacted secret-service reports into the 2006 “lies speech” were published on the website of the Constitutional Protection Office.

Accordingly, they raise the possibility that a Socialist politician was behind the leak. Shortly, in a posting on his Facebook page, Gyurcsány accused Interior Minister Sándor Pintér of manipulating the evidence.
