Sewage Dumped Into National Park In Hungary
A company owned by a local mayor dumped sewage into the Hortobágy National Park on Friday, damaging a wetlands area near Nagyiván, environmental affairs state secretary Zoltán Illés announced.

The environmental protection authority imposed an Ft 800,000 per hectare fine on the company, Illés said.

The company polluted four hectares of land and must contain damage by April 14 or expect another fine, he warned.

Experts are assessing the exact extent of the damage, but it totals at least Ft 10 million, according to Illés.
