Hungary plans to spend 200 billion forints (EUR 65m) on infrastructure development to improve broadband internet coverage in the years ahead, state secretary for infocommunications Vilmos Vályi-Nagy said on Wednesday.
Vályi-Nagy told a press conference at the Networkshop 2014 conference that the government wants to make broadband internet accessible to all Hungarian households by 2018, two years earlier than the European Union’s target year of 2020.
Of the 200 billion forints planned to be spent, 80 billion forints will come from EU and Hungarian state resources and 120 billion forints from market participants, he added.
