Intl Dance Day Marked In Budapest, Szombathely
International Dance Day will be marked with an awards ceremony and gala at the Palace of Arts in Budapest which will also be the closing event of the Budapest Dance Festival started on April 22.

The programme will include a selection of productions by dancers and choreographers awarded last year. The western Hungarian city of Szombathely, which hosts the annual Savaria dance competition, will organise a day-long event dedicated to music and dance on May 1.

A wide range of performances, including folk dance and ballet, will be presented at the city’s main square. Since 1983, International Dance Day has been celebrated on April 29, the day when French dancer and balletmaster Jean-Georges Noverre was born.
