Govt Aims To Ensure Every Able-Bodied Hungarian Can Get Work
Hungary’s government aims to ensure that every able-bodied Hungarian is either employed or in a fostered work programme by the start of 2015, János Lázár, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, said on Monday.

Lázár noted that the government has committed to keeping 200,000 fostered workers employed in May- December of this year; that is at least as many as worked before May 1. The average number of unemployed in Hungary was 369,700 in January- March, fresh data show.

The number of fostered workers averaged 200,300 in February, the latest data show. Of these, 196,400 were employed full-time. The fostered workers earned a little less than HUF 77,800 (EUR 250) a month during the period.

The 2014 Central Budget Act has earmarked HUF 138.8bn for this year’s public work programmes.
