Hungary’s Competition Office Fines Contact Lense Distributors
Hungary’s competition office GVH said it had levied nearly 100 million forints in combined fines on distributors of contact lenses and related products for sharing information on otherwise unavailable sales details.

GVH found that the companies – CooperVision Optikai Cikkeket Forgalmazó, FOTEX-OFOTÉRT Optikai és Fotócikk, Johnson & Johnson Egészségügyi és Babaápolási Termékeket Gyártó és Forgalmazó and Novartis Hungária Egészségügyi shared publicly unavailable information on specific product segments and companies, and operated an information system which was suitable to limit competition.

GVH fined CooperVision 15.4 million forints, FOTEX-OFOTERT 48.9 million forints and Novartis Hungaria 34.5 million forints. In a leniency policy step it did not fine Johnson & Johnson because the company revealed the case.
