Buena Vista Social Club Farewell Concert, 26 July

In Budapest again on Saturday, the band’s storybook history goes back to the pre-Castro days, dating back to when Buena Vista and similar clubs, crowded mainly with Afro-Cubans, characterized social life. The clubs were the embodiments of nostalgic, idyllic feelings, islands for great conversations, card parties, cigar rolling and authentic Cuban music.
After 16 years on the international stage, tens of millions of records sold, numerous awards, success and glamour, the band announced its retirement. The legendary and renowned musicians, descendants of music veterans will appear on stage for the last time, to bid farewell to its audience.
The 2014 Adios Tour starts in France, continues in South Africa and America, and with concerts throughout Cuba in 2015, ends in Havana. They arrive to Hungary after the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and Romania to Margaret Island, where following last year's critically acclaimed concert, they will perform again for the last time.
