The two main movements of 20thcentury avant-garde, Dada and Surrealism, are featured at a largescale exhibition that opened in the Hungarian National Gallery on Wednesday. The exhibition, running until October 8, offers an insight into the evolvement of the movements through more than 100 works by Marcel Duchamp, René Magritte, Max Ernst, Man Ray, Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí on loan from the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
The Dada and Surrealist collection is one of the Israel Museum’s most popular exhibitions, said James S. Snyder, the museum’s director.
Out of the around 1,200 items assembled, mostly from donations, 120 have been brought to Budapest.
